The Authorized
Sri Caitanya Saraswat Parampara—Introduction

by Sripad Swami B. G. Narasingha

[Now available in Vrndavana, India and from Mandala Publishing Group.]

In The Authorized Sri Caitanya Saraswat Parampara, Sripad Narasingha Maharaja expertly clarifies the proper conception of pure devotion, as received thru the divine preceptorial line of Srila Saraswati Thakura Prabhupada. A very important and popular book for the serious devotee. The cheating of the deviant sects are exposed for what they are, so that the intelligent discerning devotees may more easily avoid their pitfalls and more clearly recognize the very precise line of Gaudya Vaishnavism.]

...after the disappearance of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu from the eyes of this mortal world many deviant paramparas (sahajiyas) immediately began to manifest. In numerous ways the sahajiyas attempted to monopolize the treasure chest of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's gift of divine love, thus causing a great confusion in the minds of innocent people. By the end of the 19th century the line of divinity established by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu had almost disappeared from sight. The situation was dismal--rascals and cheaters had destroyed the pure principles of the Bhagavata-parampara and in turn they propagated the lowest standard of sinful behavior in the name of pure spontaneous love, raganuga-bhakti.

For a long time the sahajiyas had continuously misrepresented the principles of pure devotional service under the false practices of raganuga-bhakti and that for which the Srimad-Bhagavatam stood became tarnished and eventually covered. These sahajiya communities are described by Bhaktivinoda Thakura as the Aula, Baula, Kartabhaja, Neda, Daravesa, Sani-sahajiya, Sakhibheki, Smarta, Jata-gosani, Ativadi, Cudadhari and Gauranga-nagari.

Revelation thru Sound
by Srila B. R. Sridhara Maharaja

The sound must have Divine characteristic, Krsna, Hari, these sounds are nirguna and Divine. Sabdha brahma nama-krsna

vaikuntha-nama-grahane
asesagha haram viduh

The name must be of finite characteristic that can take away all that is undesirable in us. The name must have a spiritual conception not mere physical imitation, that can be produced only by the help of the lip and tongue. Krsna-nama, Hari-nama, Visnu, Narayana, all these are Vaikuntha-nama, it is necessary that They have spiritual existence, that is all in all. They must have spiritual depth, not imitation. Physical imitation is not the name proper. Not sabdha-brahma. Only the imitation sound may come out, but not depth. So name means nama-brahma, nama-krsna, name means it must have some spiritual background or spiritual truth to be distributed through the physical sound. Just like a pill in homeopatic medicine, the pill is not the medicine. It may be nux-vomica, belladona or anything else, but the globule is not the medicine. So sound is not Krsna, but Krsna is within. The name must be surcharged with the spirit , and that spirit is not of mundane character.

Guru is One
by Sripad Swami B. G. Narasingha

The meaning of the words, "Guru is one" are derived from the sanskrit words, 'akhanda-guru-tattva'. This means the undivided (akhanda) principle of the guru-tattva. This akhanda (undivided) guru-tattva manifests in three aspects, namely: caitya-guru, diksa-guru, and siksa-guru respectively. Caitya-guru is the Supersoul within the heart of the living entity. Diksa-guru and siksa-guru are the two kinds of gurus appearing externally as pure devotees of the Supreme Lord. The diksa and siksa-gurus are considered equal manifestations of Krishna because they manifest to take the disciple back to Godhead. The individuality of the diksa and siksa-gurus exists as Vaishnavas but in purpose they are one – they are equal manifestations of Krishna and therefore they are said to be 'one'.

The position of the bona fide guru in Krishna consciousness is realized by a bona fide disciple in stages according to the disciples subjective achievement. First the disciple may realize the guru to be the representative of Krishna. The next higher stage is that the disciple realizes that the guru is a manifestation of Baladeva Prabhu or Sri Nityananda Prabhu. Baladeva-tattva is the energy of the Supreme Lord that manifest the pastimes or lilas of the Lord. Baladeva Prabhu manifests directly as Sri Nityananda Prabhu to canvases the conditioned living entities to become engaged in the Lords transcendental service. Canvassing on behalf of the Supreme Lord is the work of Sri Gurudeva and therefore he is recognized as the manifestation of Baladeva Prabhu or Sri Nityananda Prabhu.
